A new musical adventure is making its world premiere at the Curve Theatre this spring prior to its West End run. After recently finishing her stint in Wicked as Elphaba, Louise Dearman leads the cast of a brand new musical based on Charles Kingsley’s novel The Water Babies. She will make her Curve debut playing Mrs D, whilst BBC1’s Over the Rainbow finalist Lauren Samuels has also been confirmed for the cast as Ellie.

Directed by Ed Curtis, music by Chris Egan, and book and lyrics by Ed Curtis and Guy Jones, Water Babies is a touching and unforgettable story filled with magic and adventure. It features some of the most sophisticated special effects ever seen on stage and will open at the Curve on 6th May until 17th May, with previews from 24th April. Evening performances start at 7:30pm, and matinees will be running every Wednesday and Saturday, starting at 2:15pm.

Tom, an orphaned teenage hero, is framed for a crime he didn’t commit. In a desperate attempt to escape capture he is trapped on the edge of a waterfall. His only choice is to jump. Awakening in the depths of the ocean he encounters a whole new world of enchantment, danger and adventure.

Desperate to get back to the girl he loves, Tom must brave underwater challenges in a world beyond his wildest imagination. Together with the unlikeliest of friends he embarks on a quest to find a way back to land. However he soon finds it's not just his fate he holds in his hands, but also that of the mysterious and elusive gang of Water Babies.

It's time for Tom to face his worst fears…it's time to believe that anything is possible.

This week one of the songs to feature in the musical has been released online, featuring the vocals of the two leading ladies Louise Dearman and Lauren Samuels. Listen to the beautiful duet, Waiting For You, below:
